Say hello to Xavier Ryan, Sales Executive at MVP Healthcare. Xavier’s role is all about helping members get the coverage they need, and making sure they actually understand it along the way. When he’s not navigating the complexities of health insurance, he’s out meeting other professionals, learning what’s happening in the Capital Region, and building connections that are as genuine as they are valuable. Most recently, he sponsored Networking @ Night’s Thanksgiving Food Drive, helping support local families through the Franklin Community Center — a perfect example of how he brings his professional drive and community spirit together.
We’ve been thrilled to have “Xav” as a part of our community since we were a very young networking group!
Xavier was nice enough to sit down with us and answer a few of our pressing questions. All opinions are his own, not necessarily representing his organization.
How did you first hear about Networking @ Night?
“I first heard of Networking @ Night over two years ago through a coworker who had attended several times and really enjoyed the unique environment compared to other events.”
What kind of clients or connections are you hoping to meet through this group?
“One of the aspects I value most about Networking @ Night is the opportunity to engage with professionals from diverse industries across the Capital Region. I enjoy hearing pitches and learning about the growth and innovation happening throughout the area.”
Have you attended other networking events in the region? How do they compare?
“I’ve attended many networking groups over the years and I find N@N a breath of fresh air compared to some of the hotel conference rooms. Whether it’s a small group or a larger fundraiser, N@N is a place where you’re bound to make many new long-term connections.”
How has networking helped your career or business so far?
“It’s impacted all parts of my career — from finding the job I have now to the clients I serve. In a loud world, your reputation and connections are what sets you apart.”
Are there any local businesses you collaborate with or recommend often?
“Clubhouse Barber Co. — Tristen Saunders has been my barber for a few years now, and he just opened his own shop. I love seeing Saratoga natives investing in the community we grew up in.”
What’s something most people don’t know about your career path or background?
“I worked in restaurants for almost a decade, from scrubbing pans to writing menus. It’s not on my resume, but those long days had the biggest impact on my career.”
If you weren’t in your current field, what would you be doing instead?
“Chopping onions.”
Your go-to spot for coffee or lunch in Saratoga Springs?
“Uncommon Grounds.”
What advice would you give a young professional in this area or industry?
“Make a lot of mistakes, believe in yourself, and always be listening.”
